Cycling for All

If you are interested in coming to Cycling for All sessions at Croydon Sports Arena then please also take a look at the Sessions & Bookings and Travel to Arena pages.

On the first May Bank Holiday weekend (3rd to 5th May), neither of the Saturday and Monday Cycling for All sessions will run. This is due to lack of staff on the Saturday and the Arena being closed on the Monday.

On the second May Bank Holiday weekend, the Monday 26th May Cycling for All session will not run as the Arena is closed on the Monday. However, the Saturday 24th May session will run.

We hope you enjoy the Bank Holiday weekends and look forward to seeing you at future sessions.

What is Cycling for All?

Session at Arena

Track sessions at the Arena

Cycling for All (CfA) is a project to encourage and enable cycling using tricycles, which are particularly suitable for people with disabilities and special needs. We have regular sessions at Croydon Sports Arena, where the track provides a safe, flat environment in which to try cycling, providing an opportunity for regular outdoor exercise in a friendly and supportive environment. Croydon's excellent public transport links mean we are easy for people to reach from many locations in south-east England.

We currently have about 30 cycles chosen to cater for a wide range of requirements; including standard tricycles, handcycles, special-adapted tricycles (e.g. with crank shortening mechanisms), tandem tricycles and child trailers.

Our location is particularly suitable for enabling people with disabilities to experience cycling in all its forms because, in addition to the flat track of the Arena, the site is adjacent to South Norwood Country Park and on the Waterlink Way leisure route. We hope that once individuals have gained confidence on the track they will be encouraged to try cycling through the Country Park and then on to quiet roads, giving the opportunity for some individuals to use cycling as an independent form of transport.

Who runs it?

Cycling for All is run by Wheels for All in partnership with the Cultural Services department of Croydon Council and Croydon Sports Partnership. We have secured agreement to use Croydon Sports Arena on an ongoing basis, and Croydon Sports Partnership are providing funding to provide sports coaching to Cycling for All.
